Coming off losses in three of its last four games, Chaminade bounced back with a thrilling 12-11 victory over Connecticut’s Fairfield Prep.

The Flyers squad ranks 13th in the DigitalSports National Lacrosse Rankings and 4th in New York.  Chaminade entered the game at 9-3, looking to get things back on track after a strong start to the season.

Momentum swung back and forth all game.  After Fairfield took a 4-2 lead in the first quarter, Chaminade came right back to tie the game at six by halftime.

The third was the highest scoring quarter of the game with Fairfield netting five goals and Chaminade four to give the Jesuits an 11-10 lead going into the fourth.

After over eight minutes of scoreless lacrosse in the fourth quarter, Flyer Tom O’Connell tied the game at 11 with only 3:29 remaining on the clock.  On the ensuing faceoff, a Fairfield violation game Sam Bonafede the ball.  Five seconds later, Bonafede struck mesh after storming straight through the Jesuits’ defense, scoring his game-high fourth goal of the game and giving Chaminade the late lead.

The Flyers’ defense continued to keep Fairfield off the scoreboard for the remained of the quarter to edge out a one-goal victory.

Chaminade only has two games left until the playoffs beginning.  The Flyers look to continue to work on getting their momentum back.

Key Players

Sam Bonafede- 4 goals
